FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON LEG REDUCTION

AM I A CANDIDATE?

Virtually anyone who is not satisfied with the volume, shape and harmony of their legs is a candidate for one of our treatments in the Leg Reduction Unit. Obviously we will make sure that you are in optimal health conditions. For this, we will carry out a diagnosis protocol (URP Protocol) specially designed to be able to face a leg reduction treatment with the total guarantee of being an optimal candidate for our treatments.

WHAT ARE THE TREATMENTS IN THE LEG REDUCTION UNIT?

We have basically created 5 levels of treatment. The use of one or the other will depend on the shape, affected tissues and expectations of the affected patient of a leg dystrophy:

  • BOTULINUM TOXIN, allows selective and temporary atrophy of the dystrophic muscles of the leg to achieve a harmonious contour of the leg.
  • LIPOSUCTION, which allows to eliminate accumulations of fat (lipodystrophy) in the legs, ankles and thighs.
  • RADIOFREQUENCY applied selectively on structures integrated in the muscle complex allowing the elimination of excessive muscle fibers.
  • SELECTIVE NEURECTOMY, by selectively acting on the nervous stimulus of the leg muscles, we achieve that the muscle decreases its activity and, therefore, decreases in volume.
  • PARTIAL ELIMINATION OR MYOSCULTURE, which allows designing the ideal musculature for each patient.

HOW MUCH CAN MY CALVES BE REDUCED?

In the case of BOTULINUM TOXIN type A, we will not achieve a clear and evident reduction in calf size, but a softer contour with a less muscular appearance. By means of REMODELING / PARTIAL ELIMINATION of the musculature or MYOSCULTURE the diameter can be reduced from 5 to 7 cm. Each procedure, once selected, will have characteristics that Dr. García Paricio and his team will explain in detail.

ARE THE RESULTS PERMANENT?

In the case of injection of BOTULONIC TOXIN, the results are temporary (they last approximately 9 months). The other methods are permanent.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF OUR TREATMENTS?

The immediate side effect is difficulty in walking the first week or two after the intervention. This effect is absolutely normal since most of the techniques used act on the nerves or on the muscle fibers of the calf muscles. After a short period of adaptation, you will have no problem walking in the same way that you did before the intervention. In patients who are engaged in sports as a profession or in those who practice sports in a pseudo-professional manner, we do not recommend any of our treatments since there may be a loss of initial muscle power in explosive movements of 10-15%, than in a person who carries a normal and full life will never be obvious or annoying.

ARE LEG REDUCTION METHODS PAINFUL?

In the first month, patients report a feeling of tightness in the calf. Until the body is readjusted and rebalanced by adapting to its new shape. Over time the feeling of tightness will disappear completely.

HOW LONG DOES RECOVERY LAST?

The initial phase, which is the heaviest for the patient, lasts between 3 and 10 days. From here on, the patient restarts her usual life, being able to return to her daily activity in 15 days. Complete recovery usually occurs within 3 months.
